The collage work provides a closer examination of the expressive power of body movements—the bold and strong gestures used to assert identities, challenge social constraints, and pursue emancipation while confronting traditional values imposed upon marginalized identities.
By portraying the unapologetic leading figure of the Chinese Vogue dance community and dissecting these liberating bodily movements, I hope to present a different narrative of Asian minority groups. The new generation is no longer as submissive or vulnerable as its predecessors; instead, they possess an exuberance and confidence to express their identities and claim their personal autonomy, while remaining open to embracing diverse cultures.
