The Last Witness

As global warming accelerates at an unprecedented rate, widespread and rapid changes are unfolding across the atmosphere, oceans, cryosphere, and biosphere.
We witness forests disappearing under extreme drought, groaning toward death in wildfires. We see birds forced to alter their migration routes, only to edge ever closer to extinction. We witness melting glaciers, intensifying storms, and rising seas. Through our relentless impact on the climate, we are unconsciously drawing ourselves closer to an ultimate disaster, summoning the future that awaits us.
“The Last Witness” is a digital art series that imagines an apocalyptic scenario in which the only surviving representative of Earth’s biodiversity—whether forest, bird, or marine life—stands as a suffering, mourning witness to a world deeply wounded by natural disasters. The artwork will combine the most up-to-date data reflecting the shocking decline of biodiversity as a result of worsening climate change with powerful visuals, delivering a poetic yet harsh reflection on what we have lost in recent years.
Rather than offering solely a pessimistic vision, the work serves as an urgent call to awareness: that we might still reverse our doomed fate, confront the crisis we have created, and reconsider our collective responsibility to build a more sustainable future.
