Epistemic Bubble

“Epistemic Bubble” is a multi-screen audiovisual installation that examines how the logic of internet and social media algorithms constructs enclosed information environments around individuals, subtly shaping our perceptions, opinions, and beliefs about contemporary society.
The 3D video presents keywords drawn from my daily social media feeds, forming a composite of the information through which I come to understand the world. As I grow increasingly accustomed to inhabiting this digital ecology, I become more unsettled, questioning the extent to which these data streams can claim neutrality or objectivity. Are we becoming better informed — more honest and rational in our engagement with reality — or quite the contrary?
“Epistemic Bubble” invites viewers into an algorithmically curated illusion, prompting reflection on the role of internet culture and its influence on our consciousness. Those who look closely may uncover the meanings behind each word through accompanying audio narration. Ultimately, the work encourages audiences to examine their own “epistemic bubbles” and, on a deeper level, to consider how these bubbles might be dismantled to encounter unfiltered truths — even when they challenge our selectively constructed realities.
